Ex-Abrdn advice boss launches firm under Sandringham network
Professional Independent Wealth Advice chief executive, Neil Messenger

Former Abrdn advice director Neil Messenger has launched an advisory firm under the Sandringham Financial Partners network.

Messenger will take the reins as chief executive of the newly launched firm Professional Independent Wealth Advice and is on the search for 16 more advisers to join the business.

Before founding PIWA, Messenger spent two years at Abrdn Financial Planning as advice director and prior to that was a partner and national head of wealth advisory with Grant Thornton for 17 years.

Commenting on his plans for PIWA, Messenger said he is on the hunt for advisers to join the business and he wants to hear from those who are interested.

“I have seldom met an adviser who is not enthusiastic about their clients, but it can be challenging to fully support them and deliver the ‘wow’ factor to client service,” he said.

“We will enable our advisers to deliver a genuinely outstanding independent wealth advice experience, focused on collaboration, simplicity, accountability, trust, and client-centricity values I see throughout Sandringham Partners.”

Messenger said he plans for all advisers who join the firm to become shareholders in the business.

“We have seen a significant amount of consolidation in the advice sector, with shareholders reaping the rewards from the value created by the advisers. I want to do things differently and believe advisers should share in the value created.

“We offer a flexible working environment, state-of-the-art technology, and ongoing training and development opportunities to ensure they will have the skills, knowledge, support, and all the time they need with their clients to succeed,” Messenger said.

Part of M&G Wealth, the Sandringham network now has more than 190 IFAs advising on assets of more than £3bn for over 15,000 clients.

Tim Grey, managing director of Sandringham said: “With over 30-years of experience in the financial services industry, and a fantastic reputation Neil has built teams of advisers enthusiastic about providing an exceptional client experience.

“We continue to grow the number of advisers in Sandringham, with the support of M&G Wealth, and I am delighted that PIWA, with our shared client-centric values, is joining us.”
